Sandya whose original name is Revathy was born in Alwaye, a small district in Kerela. She is a Libran born on the 27 th of September. Her father Mr. Ajith Kumar is a cashier in a National Bank and her mother Mrs. Maya Ajith Kumar is a house wife. She has an elder brother, Rahul who is doing his engineering.
She was pursuing her 10 th standard when she got an offer to act in the Tamil Film Kadhal for which she got the Film Fare award. She was so surprised when Director Balaji Sakthivelu approached her with this offer. She followed the instructions of the director carefully and the movie came out well endowing her with fame and recognition.

Sandhya is a South Indian actress renowned for her expressive face. Her real name is Revathy but she uses the name Sandhya because "Revathy" has already been taken by an older Kollywood actress. She was born in Kerala in 1989, but brought up in Chennai, Tamilnadu. Her father was transferred to Chennai when she was two years old. Her father is a bank employee, while her mother is a beautician. Her brother is studying in SRM College, Chennai. After her superb performance in her first movie, "Kadhal", opposite Bharath, she was often referred to as Kutty Kajol, a famous Bollywood actress.

Career:
Sandhya was an ordinary school going shy girl until she starred in the critically acclaimed Tamil love story Kaadhal. She was studying in vidyodaya school and her father used to drop her and pick her up at school daily. It was on one such day that she was spotted by director film director Balaji Sakthivel and was offered the female lead role in Kaadhal. She planned to do the Visual Communications course after her plus two. However, due to her rising fame especially after the super-hit Dishyum, her second Tamil film, she had to discontinue her studies before even passing her 10th standard.
After Kaadhal, which remarkably on her first film won her the best Filmfare South actress of 2004, she took up a Malayalam film titled Alice in Wonderland. Then came the musical romance Dishyum with Jeeva.
She was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai. Vallavan, her third Tamil film, Vallavan, did not do justice to her acting powers as she was offered such a surprisingly small role; neither did the film set the box office on fire.
She is now signed on Koodal Nagar with her former co-star Bharath and a Selvaraghavan film. She is getting ready to indulge in some playback singing for her new Tamil film Manjal Veiyil.

Her Movies:
Sandya's first movie was Kadhal directed by Mr. Balaji Sakthivelu in which she has paired opposite to Boys fame Bharath. It was during her 10 th quarterly exams that she got this offer. She plays the role of a school going girl who falls in love with a bike mechanic.

Kadhal is a natural movie and Sandya has performed naturally in the movie. She has got the film fare award for the best actress for her excellent performance in the movie. Her debut in Malayalam was through Alice in Wonderland directed by Sibi Malayil. She plays the role of a mentally challenged person. She acts to opposite to actor Vineeth and Jayaram is her brother in the movie. The film was also in a hit in Kerela. She has signed a lot of other movies in Tamil and Telugu which are expected to release this year.
